UPN Trims 'Mullets' If network TV were a haircut, it would be all business in front and no party in back. That's not good news for "The Mullets," the UPN sitcom about two hockey-haired brothers who run a roofing business in the San Fernando Valley. The show is going on hiatus starting Tuesday (Nov. 21) and lasting through the November sweeps.Production will continue, however, on the seven episodes (out of an original order of 13) that have yet to air, a source tells Zap2it. So there's a chance viewers may still see more of Dwayne and Denny Mullet and their soccer-rocker coiffures.Of course, not many people were seeing "The Mullets" in the first place, which is why the show is going away. It's the least-watched series on any of the six networks this fall, drawing an average of only 2.1 million viewers at 9:30 p.m. Tuesdays.A repeat of "Girlfriends" will fill the spot this week, and UPN will rotate episodes of its Monday-night comedies in the half-hour in the coming weeks."The Mullets" is only the second new show this season to be placed on hiatus, joining NBC's "Coupling" (sophomore series "Boomtown" has also been shelved, and ABC's "8 Simple Rules ..." went off the air following star John Ritter's death; it returns Nov. 4). A month into the season, though, no new series has been cancelled outright. At least one show was gone by this time in each of the past two seasons.
